Greece's Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said Friday his country will back a declaration commemorating the EU's 60th birthday, but asked the bloc for support against the IMF's demands on labor reforms.

The Greek premier, in a letter to European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker and European Council leader Donald Tusk, pressed for a precise statement on whether the document would be applicable to the nation, given its ongoing negotiations over an impasse in the bailout assessment.

Tsipras added the proclamation must state whether it is valid for all EU nations without any exception, or for all except Greece. Earlier, the country cautioned it won't sign the paper as it sought a more concise pledge safeguarding rights of workers.

Greek officials were holding talks with creditors' representatives about reforms on job and pension. The latest round of discussions on Thursday ended without reaching a conclusion.
