Asian market were mixed as a key health care vote in the U.S. was postponed and President Donald Trump called on legislators for a decision on Friday.

Australia's ASX 300 climbed 0.8 percent at 5,753.54, with broad gains across all sub-indexes, with the exception of industrials and gold. A strike at BHP Billiton's Escondida copper mine is expected to end after workers invoked a legal provision to allow them to extend their old contract. Shares of the world's biggest copper mine rose 0.29 percent at A$24.46 per stock.

Japan's Nikkei 225 finished 0.93 percent higher at 19,262.53. South Korea's Kospi fell 0.17 percent at 2,168.95. Shares of Samsung Electronics dropped 0.72 percent to 2,075,000 won ($1,849.51) per stock.

Mainland China markets were in positive territory. The Shanghai composite gained 0.63 percent at 3,268.93 while the Shenzhen composite advanced 0.4 percent at 2,046.74. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was little changed in mid-afternoon trade.
