The inflation rate was the highest since April, when it was 2 percent.

On a monthly basis, the CPI edged up 0.1 percent for the second straight month. Monthly inflation also matched flash estimate.

The harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, also rose 1.8 percent year-on-year in September, same as in the previous month.

Month-on-month, the HICP remained unchanged in September. This confirmed the HICP estimates of September 28.
