India's industrial production grew more than expected in December, figures from the Central Statistics Office revealed Monday.
Industrial production expanded 7.1 percent year-on-year in December, but slower than the revised 8.8 percent growth registered in November. Output was forecast to rise 6 percent.
Electricity output grew 4.4 percent and manufacturing advanced 8.4 percent. At the same time, mining output climbed 1.2 percent.
During April to December, industrial production gained 3.7 percent compared to 5.1 percent in the same period of last year.
