2017.02.2406:42:00UTC+00Singapore exchange to mull reinstating midday recess: source

Singapore Exchange Ltd. is considering the likelihood of reintroducing the midday intermission, people privy to the matter said.

Sources said the exchange is anticipated to consult the general public on the issue in the succeeding weeks. They added the bourse will also propose running a test which would widen the price gain at which shares are quoted to lure day traders back.

SGX repealed the break in 2011 in a move to beef up trading. Then-Chief Executive Magnus Bocker previously mentioned continuous trading would make the country one of the most accessible markets in Asia and around the globe.

When asked for a response, the exchange said it does not comment on speculation.
