Senate Republicans announced plans to vote next on their recent bid to dismantle Obamacare even as former President Barack Obama warned of “real human suffering".

President Donald Trump said “47 or 48" Republicans support the bill, which needs 50 votes for passage in the 100-seat Senate, which his Republican Party controls 52-48.

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul opposes the bill. Five other Republicans remain undecided: Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan of Alaska, John McCain of Arizona and Jerry Moran of Kansas.

Republican Senator John Thune said, “we're a handful of votes short of having the 50 that we need."

According to spokesman David Popp, Senator Majority Leader Mitch McConnell currently aims to bring it to the Senate floor next week.

Republicans have been using a measure Republican Senator Bill Cassidy is sponsoring with fellow Senator Lindsey Graham in order to make a push for this year to pass legislation to replace the 2010 Obamacare law, as they face a Sept. 30 deadline.
