Malta's producer prices continued to decline in June, but at a slightly slower pace than from the previous month, figures from the National Statistics Office showed Tuesday.

The producer price index fell 3.0 percent year-on-year in June, after a 3.33 percent decline logged in the previous month. In April, prices dropped 2.98 percent.

Producer prices for energy products tumbled 6.98 percent annually in June and that of intermediate goods by 3.50 percent. At the same time, prices of capital goods rose 1.29 percent.

Prices in the domestic market declined for the third straight month in June, down 1.93 percent annually in June, faster than May's 1.76 percent drop. Prices in the foreign market also declined 3.76 percent in June, but slower than May's 4.47 percent decrease.

On a monthly basis, producer prices rose 0.97 percent in June, after a 0.42 percent increase in the previous month. It was the second consecutive month of rise.

Domestic market output prices edged up 0.04 percent from the previous month and those of foreign market by 1.65 percent.
