2014.12.1805:27:00UTC+00S. Africa Producer Price Inflation Slows For Seventh Month To 1-year Low

South Africa's producer price inflation eased for the seventh consecutive month in November to its lowest level in a year, figures from Statistics South Africa showed Thursday.

The producer price index for manufactured goods rose 6.5 percent year-on-year in November, which was slower than the 6.7 percent increase in the previous month. The figure was in line with economists' expectations.

Pipeline inflation has been slowing since May and was the lowest since November last year, when it was 5.8 percent.

Prices in the intermediate manufactured goods sector rose 5.4 percent annually in November and those in the electricity and water industry advanced 8.4 percent. At the same time, producer prices in the mining sector registered a decline of 1.7 percent.

On a monthly basis, producer prices remained unchanged during the month, defying economists' expectations for a 0.1 percent rise.
