The Eurozone current account surplus declined notably in October, the European Central Bank said Friday.

The current account surplus fell to a seasonally adjusted EUR 20.5 billion from EUR 32 billion in September.

The surplus on trade in goods decreased to EUR 19.3 billion from EUR 21.6 billion a month ago. At the same time, the surplus on services halved to EUR 5.5 billion from EUR 10.4 billion in September.

Primary income decreased to EUR 5.3 billion from EUR 8.4 billion and the deficit on secondary income widened to EUR 9.6 billion from EUR 8.3 billion in the previous month.

On an unadjusted basis, the current account surplus decreased to EUR 30.6 billion in October from EUR 32.9 billion in September.

In the financial account, combined direct and portfolio investment recorded a net increase of assets of EUR 28 billion and a net decrease of liabilities of EUR 25 billion in October.
