2017.09.2120:02:00UTC+00MEXICO: Earthquake Will Not Affect Country's Rating - Moody's

Credit risk rating agency Moody's Investors Service said that the earthquake that killed at least 230 people this week in Mexico is not expected to significantly affect the basic scenario that supports the country's A3 rating.

According to Moody's, it is still early for Mexican authorities to estimate the damage from the 7.1-magnitude earthquake.

Moody's Mexico analyst Jaime Reusche said that even if the earthquake's damage turned out to be greater than expected, Mexico's current sovereign credit profile is more robust to tackle all kinds of shocks.

He added that the agency does not expect "this unfortunate event adversely affect the country's credit outlook."
