Electricity and gas tariffs in Argentina are set to be inflation-adjusted starting in the second half of 2019, but will rise sharply in the short term, said the Argentinean Minister of Energy and Mining, Juan Jos? Aranguren, during an interview with Radio La Red.

He added that gas prices in Argentina would rise from US$ 3.77 to US$ 4.19 per million BTU in December, prompting a 45% average increase in gas tariffs countrywide.

Prices for electricity generation and transport should increase 21% in December and 13% in January, accumulating 38% on average, said Aranguren.
