Taiwan's industrial production growth eased at a faster-than-expected pace in October, data from the Ministry of Economic Affairs showed Thursday.

Industrial production climbed 2.85 percent year-over-year in October, slower than September's 4.77 percent rise, which was revised down from a 5.24 percent increase reported earlier.

Economists had expected the growth to moderate to 4.0 percent.

Among sectors, manufacturing output advanced 3.10 percent annually in October and construction activity grew by 4.87 percent. Meanwhile, mining and quarrying production contracted 0.32 percent.

On a monthly basis, industrial production decreased a seasonally adjusted 1.93 percent from September, when it increased by 0.91 percent.
