Iceland's wage index rose in September after declining in the previous month, figures from Statistics Iceland showed on Tuesday.

The wage index climbed 0.6 percent from August, when it fell 0.1 percent. On a year-on-year basis, the wage index rose 5.9 percent in September after increasing 6 percent in the previous month. The wage index is a price index based on data from the Icelandic survey on wages earnings and labor cost and reflects changes in wages paid for fixed working hours.

The consumer price inflation adjusted real wages were 0.4 percent higher than in the previous month and rose 3 percent from a year ago.
