Argentina and Chile intends to make bilateral trade more flexible. Therefore, a trade liberalization agreement should be sent to the Congresses of both countries. The announcement came after a meeting between the Argentinean president, Mauricio Macri, and his Chilean counterpart, Sebastian Pinera, in Buenos Aires. Pinera is in his first official trip to a foreign country after his election.

Macri and Pinera also announced the progress in agreements related to energy interaction, mainly renewable energy, in the improvement of border infrastructure between both countries and said that they are joining efforts for an upcoming agreement between Mercosur and Pacific Alliance.

Both leaders also discussed the political and economic crisis in Venezuela. They affirmed "the commitment to help democracy reign throughout the region and that what happens in Venezuela would come to an end by reestablishing a democratic government," said Macri.
