China is known for its strict Internet censorship which bans popular messengers and the world's largest social media, including Twitter and Facebook. However, these companies are not willing to give way to Chinese total information control and remain committed to privacy policy regarding users’ personal data. For instance, Twitter is not ready to give up on its principles and prefers to ignore this market in response. Recently, Twitter Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal commented on the situation in China saying that the company is mainly focused on markets where it is “accessible.” “Right now we’re focused on the markets where Twitter is accessible,” Segal notes. The CFO explains that the company wants to make sure users “can trust the information that they see on the service and that they can be a part of the conversation and feel safe while doing so.” So, China will continue using its local social networks without any noticeable changes.
