Despite the fact that vaccines against COVID-19 have been found and vaccination of the population continues in many countries of the world, new strains of the "coronavirus" continue to spread among humanity. It should be noted that vaccination is taking place at a high rate mainly in rich and economically developed countries. While poor and developing countries do not have their own vaccines, they do not have the opportunity to buy the necessary amount of vaccines both for economic reasons and for reasons of "vaccine nationalism" (as the head of the WHO said). Simply put, vaccine manufacturers have large contracts with rich countries for supplies, so they simply cannot conclude additional contracts with poor countries, which at the same time do not always have the financial opportunity to buy the necessary amount of vaccines.

Therefore, in the UK, more than 60% of the adult population has already been fully vaccinated, and in many poor countries of the world, vaccination has not even begun yet. According to WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus, the latter are still winning in the confrontation between vaccination and new strains. WHO warns that the whole world is on the verge of new waves of the epidemic and the emergence of new strains of "coronavirus", which are much more contagious and dangerous for humans. According to Tedros Ghebreyesus, the unfair and uneven distribution of vaccines among all countries is a big problem for the prospects of humanity in the fight against the pandemic. Ghebreyesus also noted that the economic recovery may also suffer from the fact that some countries have already been vaccinated almost completely, while others have not even started vaccination yet. The head of the WHO drew attention to the fact that some countries (for example, the United Kingdom) considered that the victory over the virus had already been won and completely lifted quarantine measures. Ghebreyesus expressed indignation at the fact that millions of medical workers around the world did not receive the necessary doses of the vaccine. The WHO also noted that the overall decrease in the number of cases of coronavirus worldwide is caused by a drop in the number of cases in North and South America. And, for example, in Europe, there has recently been a noticeable increase in the spread of the virus. At the same time, France officially announced the beginning of the fourth "wave" of the pandemic. Over the past week, the number of infected French people has doubled. According to French officials, the rate of spread of the virus now exceeds the pace of previous "waves". And 80% of all cases of infection are accounted for by the new "delta strain". In the near future, the country's Parliament will consider a new law on tightening quarantine measures.
