2008.12.1608:25:00UTC+00Dollar weaker ahead of US November CPI report

The U.S. consumer price index for November is scheduled to be released at 8:30 AM ET Tuesday. The consensus estimates call for a 1.3% decline in the consumer price index, but a 0.1% rise in the core consumer price index that excludes food and energy. The housing starts and building permits reports are also scheduled at the same time.

Ahead of the reports, the greenback showed weakness against its major rivals. As of 8:25 am ET, the dollar was quoted at 89.93 against the Japanese yen, 1.1532 against the Swiss franc, 1.5342 against the pound and 1.3708 versus the euro.
