2018.07.1202:33:00UTC+00Germany Inflation Slows As Estimated In June

Germany's consumer price inflation slowed as initially estimated in June, though slightly, final data from Destatis showed Thursday.

Consumer prices climbed 2.1 percent year-over-year in June, just below the 2.2 percent rise in May. That was in line with the flash published on June 28.

The 2.2 percent inflation seen in May was the highest since February 2017.

The overall inflation in June was mainly driven by a 6.4 percent price hike in energy products.

EU harmonized inflation also eased to 2.1 percent in June from 2.2 percent in May, confirming the preliminary data.

On a monthly basis, both consumer prices and harmonized prices edged up 0.1 percent, each in June. The preliminary estimate was confirmed.
