Finland's inflation slowed marginally in August, Statistics Finland reported Friday.

Consumer price inflation came in at 1.3 percent in August compared to 1.4 percent in July. In the same period last year, inflation stood at 0.7 percent.

The increase in consumer prices from a year ago level was curbed most by reductions in the prices of children's day care, real estates, refundable prescription medicines and mobile telephones.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.1 percent in August.

EU harmonized inflation was 1.4 percent in August. The corresponding figure for euro area was 2 percent.

Month-on-month, the harmonized index of consumer prices gained 0.1 percent.
