Taiwan's consumer price inflation slowed in June after rising in the previous month, the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics said on Friday.

The consumer price index climbed 0.86 percent year-on-year in June, after a 0.93 percent rise in May. Economists had expected a 0.85 percent rise.

Excluding fruits, vegetables and energy, core CPI rose 0.48 percent.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.34 percent in June.

Data also showed that the wholesale price index decreased 1.93 percent, after a 0.37 percent in May. On a monthly basis, wholesale prices fell 0.73 percent in June.
