2018.05.1115:04:00UTC+00ARGENTINA: Negotiation With IMF To Continue Next Week, Minister Says

Argentina's negotiation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a stand-by credit line agreement will continue next week in Washington, according to the country's Finance Minister, Nicolas Dujovne.

He met Thursday with Christine Lagarde, the managing director of the Fund, and said after the meeting that "our teams will continue the dialogue and the necessary information exchange to enter into a detailed discussion about the agreement.

Dujovne said that there was no discussion yet about the size of the agreement, but confirmed that Argentina seeks a high access stand-by facility.

"This instrument has the necessary flexibility to meet the objective we are looking for," he said.

Argentina's government is convinced that the decision to request financial aid from the IMF would help the country achieve sustainable growth, the minister added.

Lagarde also announced after the meeting that the IMF is ready to support Argentina.
