2019.11.1111:38:00UTC+00Mexico Industrial Production Stagnates In September

Mexico's industrial production unexpectedly stagnated in September after rising in the previous month, figures from the statistical office INEGI showed on Monday.

After seasonal adjustments, industrial production remained unchanged from August, when it grew 0.6 percent. Economists had expected a 0.2 percent increase.

On a year-on-year basis, industrial production decreased a seasonally adjusted 2 percent in September after a 0.9 percent fall in the previous month.

On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, industrial production decreased 1.8 percent year-on-year in September, roughly in line with economists' expectation for a 1.7 percent slump.

Manufacturing output grew an unadjusted 0.8 percent year-on-year in September, which was a bigger increase than the 0.2 percent economists had predicted.

Mining production shrunk 2.8 percent and construction output tumbled 8.3 percent. Utilities sector output grew 3.4 percent.
