Jobless claims

The jobless claims indicator shows a weekly change in the number of applications for unemployment benefits. The report is released every Thursday at 08:30 am EST. These figures do not always reflect the actual market situation. The reading is sometimes misrepresented by the short-term factors such as federal and local holidays. The index can show what the next Non Farm Payrolls indicator may be like. For example, if the number of jobless claims reduces consistently within a month, Non Farm Payrolls will likely be on a high level. This index has a minimal effect on the market. A decline in the number of jobless claims is seen as a favorable factor for the strengthening of the US dollar.
