At the close on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones rose 0.15%, the S&P 500 index fell 0.81%, the NASDAQ Composite index fell 2.35%.

McDonald's Corporation was the leading gainer among the components of the Dow Jones in today's trading, up 6.52 points or 2.74% to close at 244.52. Verizon Communications Inc rose 1.01 points or 2.03% to close at 50.68. International Business Machines rose 2.63 points or 2.01% to close at 133.80.

The biggest losers were Walt Disney Company, which shed 4.24 points or 4.01% to end the session at 101.59. Boeing Co was up 4.67 points or 3.76% to close at 119.40, while Visa Inc Class A was down 4.93 points or 2.38% to close at 202. .63.

Leading gainers among the S&P 500 components in today's trading were AutoZone Inc, which rose 5.82% to hit 1.00, O'Reilly Automotive Inc, which gained 5.02% to close at 608.18. as well as Alliant Energy Corp, which rose 3.93% to end the session at 61.32.

The biggest losers were Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd, which shed 11.99% to close at 13.29. Shares of DexCom Inc lost 11.05% and ended the session at 288.13. Caesars Entertainment Corporation fell 10.59% to 43.14.

Leading gainers among the components of the NASDAQ Composite in today's trading were Better Therapeutics Inc, which rose 69.77% to hit 2.19, Scisparc Ltd, which gained 42.86% to close at 2.80, and shares of Americas Car-Mart Inc, which rose 30.76% to end the session at 99.98.

The biggest losers were Genocea Biosciences Inc, which shed 72.69% to close at 0.06. Shares of Walkme Ltd shed 34.43% to end the session at 8.00. Quotes of TC BioPharm Holdings PLC decreased in price by 34.15% to 0.78.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that fell in price (1841) exceeded the number of those that closed in positive territory (1348), while quotes of 129 shares remained virtually unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 2,798 stocks fell, 1,018 rose, and 209 remained at the previous close.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading, rose 3.41% to 29.45.

Gold futures for June delivery added 0.96% or 17.77 to hit $1.00 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI July futures fell 0.41%, or 0.45, to $109.84 a barrel. Brent crude for August delivery fell 0.12%, or 0.13, to $110.65 a barrel.

Meanwhile, in the Forex market, the EUR/USD pair remained unchanged 0.43% to 1.07, while USD/JPY fell 0.80% to hit 126.85.

Futures on the USD index fell 0.32% to 101.77.
