By the end of April the US retail sales had elevated by 0.1% on a monthly adjusted basis. This indicator came in line with analytical projections. Meanwhile, in March the Americans were more active: the sales growth reached 0.7%.


Excluding the auto and fuel expenses, the retail sales volume also expanded in April by 0.1%. The consumer confidence makes 70% of the total US economic upsweep, which means that expenditures contraction would provoke the American GDP lowering.  


The analysts explain such a low-paced motion by weak employment in April and by that the Easter was celebrated 2 weeks earlier this year.


In the meantime, the US consumer prices rose by 0.2% in April, compared to the March value and by 2.3% from the last year April. The value was calculated exclusively of fuel and food prices. According to experts, the inflation slackening in April is a result of lower energy costs.


It is widely supposed that consumer price uptrend is to start losing pace because of energy prices upturn in the nearest time. That means that consequences for the American economy will not be substantial and the FRS will be able to hold its discount rate around zero up to late 2014.
