05.11.202513:12:45UTC+00Brazil Private Sector Downturn Eases in October

In October 2025, the S&P Global Composite PMI for Brazil increased to 48.2, up from the previous month's near four-and-a-half-year low of 46. This latest figure still reflects a seventh consecutive month of contraction in private sector activity, but indicates that the downturn has moderated since September. This improvement was marked by softer declines in both the manufacturing sector (PMI at 48.2 compared to 46.5) and the services sector (PMI at 47.7 compared to 46.3). New business intakes experienced only a slight drop, representing the mildest decrease since April. Both manufacturing and services sectors saw a slower pace of sales contraction. For the private sector as a whole, employment remained relatively stable, with job losses in manufacturing being mostly counterbalanced by hiring within the services sector. At the same time, both input costs and selling prices increased at stronger rates, with price pressures predominantly affecting the services sector.
