In September 2025, construction output in the Eurozone experienced a decline of 0.3% compared to the same period the previous year. This reversal followed an upwardly revised growth of 1.0% in August, representing the most significant decrease since March. The downturn was primarily attributed to a pronounced drop in building activity, which fell by 4.1% compared to a 1.5% decline previously. Civil engineering saw a more modest rise of 2.0%, easing from the 3.3% growth observed in August. Similarly, specialized construction increased by 0.9%, down from August's 1.9% growth. Among major economies, Germany's output decreased by 2.2% compared to a prior 1.9% drop, and France saw a reduction of 1.9%, worsening from a 1.3% decline. Spain experienced a significant downturn with a 4.8% decrease, in stark contrast to the previous 7.2% rise. Conversely, Italy reported a growth of 4.4%, an improvement from 3.5%. On a month-to-month basis, construction output contracted by 0.5% in September, marking the second month of consecutive decline.
