In November 2025, the UK's manufacturing output experienced a noteworthy increase, rising by 2.1% from the previous month. This uptick surpassed market expectations, which had predicted a modest 0.5% growth, and represented an acceleration from a slightly revised growth rate of 0.4% in October. This surge marks the most significant expansion since February and was spurred by advancements across seven of the thirteen manufacturing sub-sectors. Notably, the manufacture of transport equipment stood out, with a remarkable increase of 10.7%, up from 3.9% in October. Other sectors such as basic pharmaceutical products and preparations saw a rise of 3.8%, reversing the previous month’s decline of 3.2%, while other manufacturing and repair grew by 2.6%. Basic metals and metal products also exhibited growth, advancing by 2.5% from 0.3% in the prior month. Conversely, there were declines in the production of electrical equipment, which dropped by 2.6% compared to a 1% decrease previously, and computer, electronic, and optical products, which fell by 1.2% following a 2.5% decline. Annually, manufacturing activity rose by 2.1% in November, in stark contrast to market predictions of a 0.3% decline, and rebounding from a revised decrease of 0.2% in October.
