Brazil's seasonally adjusted FGV-IBRE Consumer Confidence Index rose by 2.0 points to 88.1 in March 2026, reaching its highest level since December 2025. The improvement was mainly driven by more optimistic expectations for the coming months.

The Expectations Index climbed 3.4 points to 92.1. Within this component, the indicator for households’ future financial situation advanced 6.5 points to 89.4, and the outlook for the future local economic situation increased 1.8 points to 105.5. Both subindexes returned to their highest levels since December 2025. Intentions to purchase durable goods also improved, with that indicator rising 1.1 points to 82.8.

In contrast, the Current Situation Index edged down 0.3 points to 83.2. The assessment of the current local economic situation fell 1.4 points to 94.7, although the indicator for current household financial situation gained 0.8 points, reaching 72.1.

Consumer confidence increased across most income brackets, except among households earning more than R$9,600 per month. On a three-month moving average basis, however, the overall confidence index slipped 0.3 points to 87.2.
