10.04.202607:34:06UTC+00Moldova Inflation Rate Rises to 3-Month High

The annual inflation rate in Moldova increased to 5.8% year-on-year in March 2026, up from 5.1% in February, reaching its highest level since December 2025. Price growth for non-food goods accelerated sharply (4.8% vs. 1.9% in February), driven mainly by higher costs for fuels and motor fuels, footwear, construction materials, and medicines. In contrast, food inflation slowed (6.3% vs. 6.9%), even though prices continued to rise for eggs, fruits, vegetables, bread, vegetable oil, meat and meat products, canned foods, and milk and dairy products. Inflation in services also eased slightly (6.6% vs. 7%), amid increases in tariffs for water supply and sewage, electricity, passenger transport, and public catering. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 1.3% in March, compared with a 0.5% increase in the previous month.
