Montenegro’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 3.8% in April 2026, up from 3.1% in March, reaching its highest level since December 2025. Price growth strengthened notably for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.9% vs. 4.7% in March), transport (12.3% vs. 4.4%), furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (4.7% vs. 4%), as well as for personal care, social protection, and other miscellaneous goods and services (3.2% vs. 2.8%).

By contrast, inflation slowed in several key categories, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.7% vs. 2.8%), housing and utilities (3.3% vs. 3.7%), health (2.2% vs. 5.4%), recreation, sport, and culture (2.2% vs. 2.5%), and restaurants and accommodation services (3.9% vs. 4.3%).

Prices in the information category were unchanged, with inflation stable at 0.4%, while education costs remained flat. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 1.4% in April, quickening from a 0.8% increase in March. In addition, the annual harmonized inflation rate picked up to 3.6% in April, from 2.9% in the previous month.
