India’s BSE Sensex opened largely flat at 76,479 in early trade on Tuesday, pausing after the previous session’s two-week high as investors turned cautious in the wake of renewed US strikes in southern Iran. The escalation, which has intensified geopolitical tensions and driven a sharp rise in oil prices, followed fresh US “self-defense” attacks on Iranian missile sites and mine-laying vessels. These strikes have further strained an already fragile ceasefire, even as Washington and Tehran continue talks aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz and bringing the conflict to an end. Most sectors started the session in positive territory, with only communications, retail trade, and health services registering modest losses. On the stock front, Techno Electric (-11.3%), Container Corporation (-4.6%), and Rail Vikas (-3.0%) were the main laggards, while Uniparts (+15.1%), Bliss GVS (+17.7%), Pace Digitek (+8%), and Premier Explosives (+3.9%) led the gainers.
