Sweden’s Economic Tendency Indicator rose for a third consecutive month in July 2026, reaching 104.7 from a revised 102.1 in June and marking its highest level since June 2022. The reading indicates a stronger-than-normal business climate, driven primarily by manufacturing, where confidence increased to 107.9 from 105.2, as firms reported more optimistic production plans and stronger order intake in both domestic and export markets.

Retail sentiment jumped to 112.9 from 106.5, the highest since March 2022, supported by improved sales expectations and better assessments of current trading conditions. Construction confidence climbed to 99.4 from 97.6, returning to a normal level on the back of more positive hiring and order book expectations, while sentiment in the services sector edged up to 102.5 from 102.3.

Household confidence also strengthened, rising to 97.1 from 94.2, as consumers became less pessimistic, although it remained below the historical norm. Meanwhile, business price plans stayed above normal, particularly in manufacturing, even as inflation expectations for the year ahead continued to ease.
