30.07.202612:00:00UTC+00German HICP Inflation Ticks Up to 2.8% in July, Easing Disinflation Trend

Germany’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose to 2.8% year-over-year in July 2026, up from 2.4% in June, according to data updated on 30 July 2026. The latest reading marks a modest re-acceleration in inflation pressures after recent months of gradual cooling.

Both the current and previous figures are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month with the same month a year earlier. The move from 2.4% in June to 2.8% in July suggests that, while inflation remains relatively contained compared with earlier peaks, price growth in Europe’s largest economy is no longer slowing and may be stabilising at a level slightly above the European Central Bank’s medium-term target.

Investors and policymakers will now be watching subsequent releases closely to determine whether July’s uptick proves to be a temporary fluctuation or the start of a more persistent upward trend in German inflation.
