The Ibovespa fell 1.7% on Friday, closing at 177,513 points, pressured by a fresh round of second‑quarter 2026 earnings releases. Petrobras retreated 3%, reversing earlier gains despite posting one of its strongest results in recent quarters and beating market expectations, as investors judged that much of the good news was already priced in and remained uncertain about the sustainability of this performance.

Localiza slipped 0.8%, even after reporting net income of R$1 billion, a 30.6% increase from a year earlier. Magazine Luiza dropped 3.7% amid weak results and persistent concerns over profitability, while Renner tumbled 8.1% after cutting its guidance, fueling worries about sales momentum.

Elsewhere, Vale edged down 0.6% despite higher iron ore prices. The banking sector also traded lower, led by Bradesco, down 2.2%, and Itaú Unibanco, which fell 2.6% ahead of Tuesday’s release of the Copom minutes, expected to shed further light on the central bank’s outlook for the Selic policy rate.
