Peru’s trade surplus widened to USD 3.17 billion in June, up from USD 2.80 billion in the same month a year earlier. Exports rose 23.4% year-on-year to USD 8.91 billion, supported by higher shipments of traditional products (up 30.2%), non-traditional products (up 1.2%), and other products (up 157.6%).

Imports increased 29.7% to USD 5.74 billion, driven by higher purchases of consumer goods (up 23.1%), intermediate goods and supplies (up 27.1%), and capital goods (up 39.2%), while imports of other goods fell 30.7%.

Over the first half of the year, Peru posted a trade surplus of USD 22.76 billion, compared with USD 13.31 billion in the same period of the previous year. Exports reached USD 56.44 billion, up 37.6% year-on-year, while imports totaled USD 33.68 billion, an increase of 21.5%.
