19.08.202604:32:35UTC+00Sensex Extends Losing Streak to Fourth Day

India’s BSE Sensex slipped about 0.3% to 77,018 on Wednesday, extending its losing streak to a fourth straight session and marking the lowest close since July 28. Sentiment remained cautious amid elevated crude prices, rising global bond yields, and persistent foreign portfolio outflows.

Brent crude traded near $92 a barrel, stoking concerns over India’s import bill and inflation trajectory, while higher US Treasury yields continued to weigh on emerging-market assets. Foreign investors have offloaded a record $25 billion worth of Indian equities so far this year, even though they briefly turned net buyers on Tuesday.

On the stock front, notable decliners included Netweb (-4.5%), Himadri (-5.2%), Cupid (-1.8%), Paras Defence (-1.4%), and L&T Finance (-3.1%).

In contrast, RailTel advanced 3.3% after winning an order worth 1.67 billion rupees from the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation. Other strong performers included Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals (1.6%), Chennai Petroleum (3.4%), Milky Mist (10%), and Zaggle (10.4%).
