Austria’s annual producer inflation accelerated to 3.3% in July 2026, up from 3.1% in June, marking the fourth consecutive monthly increase after the end of an almost year-long deflationary period and reaching its highest level since April 2023. The rise was largely driven by intermediate goods, whose prices climbed 6.6%, the same rate as in June, while energy prices picked up to 2.6% from 2.1%. Prices for capital goods also increased slightly faster, at 1.1% compared with 1.0% in the previous month. By contrast, consumer goods prices declined 0.2% after a 0.2% increase in June. On a monthly basis, the producer price index (PPI) rose 0.3% in July, with notable gains in basic metals (+1.0%) and wood and wood products (+0.7%), partially offset by declines in chemicals and chemical products (-4.1%) and food products (-0.6%).
