04.09.202610:00:00UTC+00Irish GDP Swings Back to Strong Growth in Q2 2026, Rebounding 10.2% QoQ

Ireland’s economy staged a sharp rebound in the second quarter of 2026, with gross domestic product jumping 10.2% quarter-over-quarter, according to data updated on 4 September 2026. The surge follows a steep contraction of 7.8% recorded in the previous quarter-on-quarter reading, also covering the second quarter of 2026 compared with the quarter before it.

The latest figure highlights a marked turnaround in Ireland’s short-term growth momentum. On a quarter-over-quarter basis, the current 10.2% increase measures the change in output from the most recent quarter versus the previous one, while the earlier -7.8% reading reflected how GDP had fallen compared with the quarter immediately before that. This swing from deep contraction to double-digit expansion underscores the heightened volatility in Ireland’s quarterly growth profile over the period in question.
