Industrial production in Slovakia rose by 2.4% year-on-year in July 2026, up from a 2.1% increase in June and marking the third monthly gain of the year. Growth was driven by higher output in 10 of the 15 monitored industrial sectors, led by motor vehicle manufacturing, which jumped 9.2% and posted its strongest performance so far this year. Part of this gain reflected a calendar effect, as a major producer’s plant-wide summer shutdown fell later than last year, allowing for an additional week of production in July.

Output also rose markedly in the manufacture of machinery and equipment (up 11.9%) and in basic metals (up 5.5%). In contrast, production of computer, electronic and optical products slumped by 41%, while output of coke and refined petroleum products declined by 17.8%.

On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, industrial production fell by 0.7% in July, matching the pace of decline recorded in June. Over the first seven months of 2026, overall industrial output was down 0.4% compared with the same period a year earlier.
