Denmark’s economy expanded by 0.9% quarter-on-quarter in Q2 2026, a substantial upward revision from the preliminary estimate of 0.3%, though slower than the 1.5% growth recorded in Q1. Household consumption was unchanged (after rising 1.2% in Q1), and vehicle purchases declined by 1.8% (following a 12.7% increase previously). Public consumption was also flat, compared with a 4.0% contraction in the first quarter.

In the external sector, exports grew by 1.5% (down from 2.3% in Q1), while imports increased by 1.8%, reversing a 0.3% decline in the previous quarter. Gross fixed capital formation rose by 1.5%, rebounding from a 5.2% drop in Q1, driven by an 8.6% increase in other construction and engineering works. This was partly offset by a 4.6% fall in investment in machinery, transport equipment, and other items. On the production side, the pharmaceutical industry made a positive contribution to growth in the second quarter.

On an annual basis, GDP grew by 5.7% in Q2, easing from 6.0% in Q1. For the first half of 2026 as a whole, GDP increased by 6.0% year-on-year.
