US crude oil inventories increased by 0.922 million barrels to 427.3 million barrels in the week ended September 25, contrary to market expectations of a 0.3 million-barrel draw. Stocks at the Cushing, Oklahoma delivery hub rose by 0.553 million barrels to 24.3 million barrels. Refinery crude runs declined by 554,000 barrels per day.

Gasoline inventories fell by 1.684 million barrels to 204.4 million barrels, a larger draw than the forecast 0.5 million-barrel decrease. Distillate stockpiles—which include diesel and heating oil—declined by 2.251 million barrels to 105.2 million barrels, exceeding expectations for a 0.2 million-barrel drop. Net US crude imports decreased by 468,000 barrels per day.
