08.10.202610:00:00UTC+00Irish HICP Inflation Eases Slightly to 3.8% in September

Ireland’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) edged down to 3.8% year-over-year in September 2026, from 3.9% in the previous reading, according to data updated on 8 October 2026.

Both the current and previous indicators relate to September 2026 but measure inflation against different base periods: the “actual” figure compares price changes in September 2026 to September a year earlier, while the “previous” reading compared the prior month’s annual change to its year-ago level. The marginal decline points to a modest easing in inflationary pressure, suggesting price growth is stabilising rather than accelerating on a yearly basis.

While the slowdown is slight, the latest HICP reading will be closely watched by investors and policymakers as they assess Ireland’s inflation trajectory and its implications for real incomes, consumption, and the broader euro area inflation outlook.
