12.10.202602:17:35UTC+00US Natural Gas Prices Ease

US natural gas futures retreated to $3.15 per MMBtu on Monday, pulling back from a two‑week high reached in the prior session when Hurricane Isaias disrupted supply in the Gulf of Mexico. Producers shut in about 1.3 bcfd of output, equal to roughly 59% of offshore Gulf production. The overall impact on US supply, however, was limited, as offshore volumes accounted for only 1.9 bcfd, or around 2% of total marketed gas production in 2025.

On the storage side, the latest EIA data showed inventories increasing by 85 Bcf in the week ending October 2, topping market expectations of a 79 Bcf build and underscoring ample domestic supply.

Additional downward pressure on prices came from weaker LNG feedgas demand. Flows to major US export terminals averaged 17.1 bcfd so far in October, down from 18.0 bcfd in September, largely reflecting the delayed restart of a liquefaction train at Freeport LNG and scheduled maintenance at Cove Point. Even so, overseas appetite for US LNG remained solid, with European and Asian buyers maintaining strong demand amid ongoing risks to LNG supplies from the Middle East.
