Argentina experienced a notable 6.5% year-on-year increase in its economic activity estimator for January 2025, following a revised 6% uptick in December. This performance exceeded the anticipated 4.7% growth and represented the most substantial expansion since May 2022. Major factors contributing to this growth included a recovery in construction, which grew by 1.9% compared to a 7.2% decline in December. Additionally, there was a quicker pace of expansion in utilities, which rose by 6.6% from 2.8%, financial services, which increased by 25.7% from 16.9%, and mining and quarrying, which improved to 8.3% from 7.6%. In contrast, sectors like manufacturing experienced a slowdown, with growth decreasing to 6.0% from 7.2%. Agriculture also saw reduced growth, down to 0.8% from 7.4%, while transportation's growth rate slightly eased to 3% from 3.1%. Seasonally adjusted data reflected a 0.6% rise, complemented by a 0.4% increase in the trend-cycle indicator.
