In September 2025, Mexico experienced a notable 6.1% year-on-year decrease in car production, resulting in 355,525 units, marking the sharpest decline observed since April. Production fell among several major automotive manufacturers: JAC saw a significant 38.7% drop to 1,262 units, Volkswagen decreased by 17.7% to 29,202 units, Stellantis declined 10% to 34,326 units, Mazda reduced by 11.5% to 15,239 units, Honda decreased by 7.8% to 15,212 units, General Motors fell 16.9% to 80,864 units, Ford saw a slight decrease of 3.6% to 35,259 units, and Audi dropped 9.1% to 14,217 units. Conversely, some manufacturers reported increased production: BMW rose by 15.5% to 10,075 units, KIA increased by 3.7% to 26,050 units, Mercedes-Benz saw a substantial increase of 32.6% to 4,768 units, Nissan grew by 4.3% to 60,169 units, and Toyota increased by 3.6% to 25,497 units. Cumulatively, from January to September, the total production reached 3.02 million units, a marginal decrease of 0.3% compared to the same timeframe in 2024. Light trucks composed 77.2% of the total production, with passenger cars making up the remaining 22.8%.
