Moreover, uncertainty persisted regarding a potential meeting between Trump and China's President Xi Jinping. However, the market downturn was somewhat offset by optimism surrounding the potential resolution of the U.S. government shutdown and Trump's comments that the existing high tariffs on China might not be sustainable.
