In August 2025, retail sales in Argentina experienced a 25.1% increase at current prices when compared to the same month the previous year, marking an improvement from the 19.6% uptick observed in July. Various retail segments demonstrated accelerated growth, with sectors like clothing, footwear, and leather goods rising by 14.8% compared to 12.6% in July. The electronics and IT sector saw a notable increase of 12.9%, up from 5.1%. Bookstores and stationery recorded a rise of 25.3% from 18.6%, while leisure and recreation sectors experienced a significant surge, advancing 64.7% from 28.2%. Additionally, the food courts and restaurant sectors grew by 51.1%, improving from 39.0%. Conversely, sectors such as pharmacies and perfumeries decelerated to 27.8% from 30.5%, and toys to 37.9% from 45.4%. With adjustments for constant prices, retail sales showed a year-on-year decline of 1.9%, which is an improvement compared to July's 9.5% decrease.
