The S&P Global Myanmar Manufacturing PMI experienced a decline in October 2025, registering at 51.5, down from September’s peak of 53.1, a high not seen for 30 months. This drop signals a slowdown in the growth of both production and new orders. Employment continued to decline sharply, marking the most significant decrease since February, largely due to a notable increase in voluntary resignations as workers pursued better financial prospects elsewhere. Concurrently, backlogs increased significantly, hindered by supply-side issues that restricted manufacturers' ability to bring products to market. Purchasing activity decreased at its fastest rate in six months, driven by material shortages, while vendor performance showed a notable decline. Regarding pricing, input cost inflation surged to an eight-month high, leading to the quickest rise in output cost inflation since March. Lastly, business confidence weakened to a ten-month low, compounded by apprehensions regarding material shortages and market instability.
