In September 2025, Slovakia saw a significant expansion in its trade surplus, reaching EUR 428.3 million compared to EUR 176.6 million in the same month the previous year. This marks the fifth consecutive month of a trade surplus, with exports rising and imports falling. On an annual basis, exports climbed by 1.8%, amounting to EUR 9,341.2 million, driven largely by an 18% surge in the export of miscellaneous manufactured goods. Export sales to the EU increased by 7.7%, whereas exports to non-EU nations decreased by 18.8%. Conversely, imports dropped by 1.0%, totaling EUR 8,912.8 million, influenced partly by a substantial 34% reduction in the import of mineral fuels, lubricants, and related products. Imports from countries outside the EU declined by 16.0%, while imports from EU member states increased by 7.0%. For the period from January to September, Slovakia's trade surplus shrank to EUR 1,885.8 million from EUR 2,769.5 million during the same timeframe the previous year.
